What it takes to make these yourself.
We are not going to tell you what your teachers’ time is worth — you know that better than we do. What we can tell you is exactly how much material a grade level takes, because we cut it every day.
Here are the counts. The arithmetic is yours.
What a single classroom actually needs.
Every figure below is the real contents of one of our kits, counted from the curriculum’s own quantity guidance for a class of 24.
| Grade | Lesson decks | Center decks | Card decks in total | Boards & sheets |
|---|
Counts are for IM® K–5 Math. The v.360 range runs to similar numbers. Every deck and every board is listed in full on the product page for that grade.
What you would be buying, before anyone starts cutting.
This is the part that rarely makes it onto a budget line. The copy masters are free; everything that turns them into something a child can hold is not.
- 80 lb card stock. Standard copy paper will not survive a year in a center bin. Card stock is what makes a deck last, and it is what most printers jam on.
- Color toner or ink. A large share of the decks are color-coded or image-based. Printed in greyscale, a lot of them stop working as designed.
- A guillotine or trimmer that can cut card stock, not a classroom paper cutter. And a replacement blade.
- Bags, boxes and labels for every deck, or the sets mix within a fortnight and nobody can find lesson 4.11.2 again.
- Somewhere to keep it all, per classroom, all year.
- The hours. Printing, cutting, organizing, boxing and labeling — for every deck in the table above, for every classroom, before the first lesson runs.
